Shropshire Council’s Shropshire Archives has launched an online survey to find out what customers want ahead of plans to reopen the service later in the summer.

Shropshire Archives has been closed to in-person visitors since March 2020, though enquiries have continued to be answered. The service is also now able to offer a wide range of research services.

Lezley Picton, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for culture, leisure, waste and communications, said:- “I hope customers of Shropshire Archives will take this important opportunity to give us their views and concerns about using the service in the future. The service we can offer when we reopen will be very different from what we provided before lockdown, so it is essential to find out what our customers’ priorities are.”

Mary McKenzie, Archives manager, said: “We are well into planning for our reopening and look forward to welcoming back our customers in due course. However, given the many issues involved, we wanted to find out as much as we can about our customers’ needs. Please give us your views; this is crucial in providing a useful service to you.”

The survey can be found at http://www.shropshire.gov.uk/get-involved/shropshire-archives-reopening-survey/ and is open until 9 July.
