A Worcester man who threatened to paralyse his victim has been sentenced to three years.
Blaine Taylor, 23, of James Close in Worcester, was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court earlier today (Thursday 18 January) after he was found guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He will be subject to a restraining order on his release from prison.
The court heard how Taylor repeatedly punched and kicked his victim, and in one incident he banged her head on the floor multiple times while holding her down with his knee on her chest and hand around her neck.
On another occasion, he forcibly held her head under a shower, repeatedly stamped on her head and said, ‘I’m going to carry on until you’re paralysed’.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Philippa Stevens of South Worcestershire Police's Protecting Vulnerable People team said: “We take all domestic assaults very seriously and I am pleased with the sentencing today. Taylor is clearly a dangerous and violent individual so I hope this result sends a clear message that this type of crime will not be tolerated, and we will do all we can to bring offenders to justice.
“The victim in this case has been extremely brave in speaking out and working closely with us to make sure Taylor doesn’t do this again.
“I urge anybody who is experiencing domestic abuse not to suffer in silence but to speak with the police. Victims will always have our full support from our specialised Protecting Vulnerable People team."
