Up to 24 homes built in a village near Malvern under new plans.

The plans by Bromford Housing Association would see the homes built on land to the south of Elmhurst Farm off Hereford Road in Leigh Sinton.

The affordable housing would be comprised of one-to-three-bed homes and built on land previously used to grow Christmas trees.

The housing association is currently building 35 homes next to the latest site as part of its Bluebell Walk development.

The first plan by Bromford to build new homes in Leigh Sinton proved controversial and the initial application was rejected by Malvern Hills District Council in 2014 but then allowed to go ahead after the decision was overturned by a government planning inspector.

Some villagers have raised concerns about the plan saying they could not cope with the extra traffic and building noise.

Objectors to the plan have also said they fear that building affordable housing next to the existing Bromford development would affect the price of their new homes.

One objector in Haywood Drive said: “If this development is ‘tagged’ on to the current Bromford estate it will be perceived as predominantly shared housing and affordable rental development which would have a detrimental impact on those homeowners who brought their properties on the understanding that any new developments would be separate to Bluebell Walk.

“It is unacceptable to expect people living on Bluebell Walk to put up with the disruption, heavy plant and lorries – not to mention the building noise – which using the current road (which is at this moment being newly tarmacked) would cause.

“A large proportion of housing on Bluebell Walk is home to very young families – I would not be happy having traffic constantly passing the houses where children are likely to be playing – it is a recipe for accidents to happen.

“If access to a new site from the main road is not granted then planning for the new development should be denied.”

The plans can be viewed via the planning section of Malvern Hills District Council’s website.

The application number is 21/01153/FUL.

Public consultation ends on August 8.
