The number of crimes reported in the city in March dropped by 44 per cent compared to the same time last year, the latest police figures show.
A total of 662 crimes were reported in Worcester in March compared to 1,108 crimes in the same month last year.
A total of 280 reports of violence and sexual offences were made to West Mercia Police in March alongside 71 public offences and 64 reports of criminal damage and arson.
The most crimes were reported in the Cathedral ward, which covers the city centre, where 155 incidents were reported in March including 70 reports of violence and sexual offences.
A total of16 public order offences, 15 incidents of criminal damage and arson and 15 reports of shoplifting in Cathedral were also reported in March.
As many as 98 crimes were reported in St John’s and Bedwardine including 52 reports of violence and sexual offences, nine public order offences and nine reports of criminal damage and arson.
A total of 95 crimes were reported in Battenhall and Nunnery according to police figures including 51 reports of violence and sexual offences, seven reports of criminal damage and arson and seven public order offences.
Elsewhere in the city, 94 crimes were reported in Arboretum and Claines including 30 reports of violence and sexual offences, 12 public order offences and 11 reports of criminal damage and arson.
A total of 94 crimes were reported in Gorse Hill and Rainbow Hill including 42 reports of violence and sexual offences, 15 public order offences and 10 reports of criminal damage and arson.
There were 86 crimes were reported in Warndon including 35 reports of violence and sexual offences, 13 reports of criminal damage and arson and 12 public order offences.
