An investigation is underway after lit fireworks were posted through letterboxes of six houses in Catshill, Worcestershire in the early hours of this morning.

The homes in Aintree Close, Lingfield Walk and Green Lane were targeted from 2am – 5am this morning.

The fireworks exploded inside the houses causing fires and damage, as well as significant distress to the people inside.

Officers attended alongside the fire service and a thorough search of the area was carried out.

Inspector Carrie Solomon, said: “These incidents are truly shocking and it’s a miracle that nobody was injured.

“Behaviour like this is dangerous, totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

“I’d like to reassure the local community that we are working hard to identify the perpetrators and will have increased patrols in the area over the coming days, particularly overnight.

“If anyone in the area has dash-cam, video doorbell or CCTV footage which may show the offenders then I’d ask you to please get in touch.”
