Emergency services responded to a fatal road traffic collision on Groesonen Road close to the Steel Horse café junction in Llanvihangel Gobion yesterday.

The collision happened at around 10.15am and involved a motorcycle and a van.

The driver of the van received minor injuries and is recovering at home.

Sadly, the male rider of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

He can now be named as 44 year old Philip Mark Kembrey from Cwmbran.

Specialist officers are now supporting his family.

Philip's family have posted this tribute: “It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the tragic death of our very much loved family member, Philip Mark Kembrey.  Philip was a family man and lived a private life, due to him being a such a private person as a family we are finding releasing this statement extremely hard. Philip tragically lost his life, but he did it doing what he loved most and that was in his words "going for a run" on his motorbike. "

"As a family we wish for our privacy to be respected at this time. Good night God bless Philip ( father, son, brother, uncle and great nunky Phil)  your now finally reunited with your beloved father. Sleep tight until we meet again.”

Officers are investigating the circumstances of the collision and are asking for anyone who has any information to call 101 quoting log 143 3/7/18.
