Westfields welcomed for the first time Calne Town to allpay.park on Saturday and it proved a successful day for the Hereford club as they ran out comfortable 3-0 winners over the Wiltshire visitors.

The 3 points moved Westfields another place up the league table and they now have a great chance to maintain their form when they have 3 consecutive home mid-week games including an important game against league leaders Cribbs next Tuesday.

Westfields opened up really well against visiting Calne Town and created a number of early chances before danger-man Dan Stoneman put Westfields ahead with a crisp shot from 12 yards.

Westfields then had a couple of great chances to increase their lead when again Stoneman found space on the right but this time the visitors’ keeper was in top form to save almost identical shots at the foot of the left-hand post.

Little was seen of the visitors’ attack although when they did force a couple of early corners Ian Havard in the Westfields goal dealt with the crosses well.

After the break Westfields increased their lead with a superb goal when leading goal-scorer Josh Hunt side-stepped 2 challenges before firing a cracking shot into the top left-hand corner to put Westfields 2-0 ahead.

Westfields then hit the cross bar when Matt McDonald let fly from 20 yards and Cawley Cox also went close.

Westfields then increased their lead to 3 when free-scoring central defender Joe Davies joined the attack and headed home from a right-wing cross.

Westfields’ defence, which has now gone 3 matches without conceding, dealt very well with everything that was thrown at them and Kane Kahaki in the Westfields central position was outstanding.

Westfields now meet Tuffley Rovers on Tuesday night, kick-off 7.45pm at allpay.park, and then on Saturday Westfields travel to Corsham for another important Hellenic League Premier Division game before they return to allpay.park the following Tuesday with a match against current league leaders Cribbs, kick-off 7.45pm at allpay.park.
