Beautiful beaches this Bank Holiday

As Bank Holiday is approaching, why not get out and explore some of these beautiful UK beaches. We are set to have a spell of warm late summer weather, perhaps the finale as we approach Autumn. Here are Sunshine Radios recommendations for the best beaches within easy driving distance.

1. Brean Sands

Brean beach is an extensive seven-mile sand and mudflat beach near Weston-Super-Mare in Somerset. With skyrocketing positive reviews on trip-advisor, one individual stated “We had a lovely walk along the beach and spent hours in the arcades”.
The serene scenes are much more subdued than those at Weston-Super-Mare, with a more relaxing and peaceful element. The epic sands are also favoured by avid walkers and sport enthusiasts such as horse riders. If you get peckish or need a refreshment, there is a café right at the beach entrance and public restrooms not too far either.

2) Rhossili Bay-THE GOWER- RHOSSILI

Rhossili Bay has three miles of exquisite coastline to investigate, including some soft sumptuous sand to bury those toes in! Rhossili Bay is famously fabulous in the UK, being voted Wales’ best beach in 2018 and 3rd in the Uk in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.
The times nominated this beach as the No1 dog friendly in the UK, so if you have a pawfect pooch you would like to take for a beach day, look no further than Rhossili Bay!Finally, how could one forget the iconic headland ‘Wormhead’, the furthest
westerly point on the Gower Peninsula. The name Worm head derives from the word ‘Dragon’.

3) Aberdovey/Aberdyfi

Aberdyfi, also known in English as Aberdovey, is a small village and community in Gwynedd.
The beach is 3 miles of unspoilt, heavenly dunes and pale sand.Sailing, windsurfing, and Yachting are common over the summer period as there are stronger currents due to the outflow of the Dyfi.
There are copious small local gift shops with trinkets, souvenirs, and lots of lovely handmade clothing.
Just across the road from the beach you can also find lots of delicious restaurants that are always buzzing with atmosphere, it is like being on a mediterranean holiday!
The fish and chip shop directly opposite to the beach is tantalizingly tasty and incomparable to any other.

4) Rest Bay - Porthcawl

If you are a lover of water spots, this is the perfect quiet paradise for you to explore! A new state-of-the-art water sports centre provides an adventure seeker with all the tools to have a fun-filled day out.Surf lessons are available, as well as stand up paddle. To expand even further, the centre provides up to thirty vehicles to hire including mountain bikes, flat bikes, California cruisers and even wheelchairs for those who need. As well as sports, the team members understand how important the environment is to the
local community and world-wide. Courses on environmental education, clean ups and ocean literacy can all be taught when visiting this golden sand diamond. Rock pools are abundant, perfect for the youngsters to get their Christopher Columbus caps
on.

5) Woolacome Sands - Devon

This is a sandcastle architect's dream, with more sand available than you could shake a spade at!
The main beach is incredibly well maintained as it is family run with families in mind. A family run business park means one thing and one thing only! - a fantastic holiday opportunity! There are luxury sea view cabins, Chalets, and other wonderful apartments.
This beach is totally pro pooch - sign posts are well presented with detailing, rules and regulations. For the adults, there is a bar on-site of the camp for a late-night liquor or a ‘what a day’ wine.
