Herefordshire Council is asking residents for their views on proposals to allow cycling up and down a centric one-way Hereford street.

Council officers would like to allow bicycles to travel in both directions along the entire lengths of St Owen Street and Mill Street.

A short length of the footway on the western side of the Mill Street and St Owen Street junction would be designated as shared use to allow for such a change.

The proposals would also allow buses to access the eastern arm of St Peter’s Square where it is proposed to have a new limited waiting parking place for buses outside Shirehall.

The council will also modify parking arrangements and restrictions in St Peter’s Square, St Owen Street and around the junctions with Cantilupe/St Ethelbert Street and Mill Street to support the scheme.

The scheme also includes placing 4-inch high speed tables with ramps intended to help traffic comply with the existing 20mph speed limit.

Residents wishing to have their say on these plans should email StOwenSt@balfourbeatty.com quoting The St Owen St Cycle Access Scheme or write to FREEPOST RTHL-BBZH-JATH, Balfour Beatty Living Places, Unit 3, Thorn Business Park, Rotherwas Industrial Estate, Hereford, HR2 JT by April 4.
