Wye Valley NHS Trust has taken the decision to postpone some planned surgery due to take place tomorrow.

The decision has been taken due to the weather conditions which have resulted in some staff not able to get to work and difficulties for patients unable to attend for their operations.

The Trust has been busy contacting patients whose procedures have been postponed. Those due to undergo planned procedures who have not been contacted should attend as planned.

Health bosses at the Trust have asked that staff having difficulty getting in to work make contact with the managers of their teams or departments as early as possible on Monday morning. The Trust is working with the local 4X4 group to transport staff.

Jon Barnes, chief operating officer at the Trust, said: "We will only postpone procedures as a last resort - we realise the inconvenience this can cause patients and their families.

"However, the weather conditions have made for some treacherous driving conditions actross Herefordshire.

"I'd like to pay tribute to those staff who have managed to get in to work. But we realise that the county is very rural and that for some staff and patients, getting to the hospital is going to be tricky.

"If you work at the Trust and will struggle to get in on Monday morning, please let us know as early as possible. If you're a patient, we're open for urgent care and treatment, but if your surgery has been postponed, you will have been contacted.

"If you haven't been contacted, please assume that your procedure will be going ahead as planned."
