County councillors have given the green light to build two homes rural in the south of the county.
Herefordshire Council’s planning committee yesterday (June 24) considered the proposals for a new four bed and a three bed detached house in Broad Oak, Garway.
Some 12 residents objected to the scheme along with the parish council.
They raised concerns over the drainage proposed between the land boundaries.
Anthony Hall, who wrote a letter on behalf of objectors, said Garway parish had grown 17% since 2011.
“The housing growth envisaged until 2031 has already been met. In fact, it’s been exceeded.
“There is no shortage of housing supply in the parish of Garway.”
Ward councillor Toni Fagan told the committee she was concerned about the disproportionate level of growth within Garway parish and Broad Oak specifically.
Councillor Tony Johnson said he was happy to vote for the proposals provided future purchasers of the property were made aware of the drainage arrangements and that they have a responsibility to maintain them.
The committee approved the scheme with 12 votes for it , one against and one abstention.
