A charity supporting refugees and displaced people will be holding a pop-up shop at Maylords tomorrow.

Since September 2015, People in Motion have been actively involved in sending aid throughout Europe for distribution to refugees travelling in search of a safer life. The charity has  provided many large vans full of clothing, tents, blankets and food, collected from Herefordshire residents, among others,  which have been sent to Syria and Greece.

The organisation has sent many volunteers to refugee camps in France and Greece  to help distribute donations and provide shelter for people there as well as given local talks and attended events to raise awareness of the current situation regarding refugees and displace people.

Saturday’s pop-up shop at Maylords will provide people with an opportunity to shop for pre-loved Christmas party wear and winter clothing that is unsuitable for refugees, support the charity and meet the volunteers dedicated to running it in Herefordshire.

Coalition councillor Gemma Davies said she was delighted that Maylords could support People in Motion, adding: ‘Buying pre-loved clothes is a perfect fit with our new waste strategy. Reducing items going into the waste stream whilst supporting community groups creating awareness around the refugee crisis can only be commended.’
