Residents in Monmouthshire can now book a slot at Llanfoist and Five Lanes recycling centres in preparation for their reopening next week.

Both recycling centres will reopen on Tuesday (May 26), while the Mitchel Troy and Usk sites will remain closed.

The county council says that booking is essential, and anyone who turns up without a slot will be turned away.

Special slots, from 8am to 8.30am and 8.30am to 9am, have been set aside for key workers.

The council says that residents will only be able to dispose of “small amounts of household waste” and has urged residents to “think carefully” before visiting one of the sites.

On the website, the council says: “Non-essential use puts yourself, other members of the public and our staff at risk from spreading the infection.

“Under the current guidelines, you should only make this journey if your waste is causing a hazard to health and cannot be stored at home.”

Not only do slots need to be booked in advance, but residents will be required to bring either their permit or their driving licence.

The Five Lanes site in Caerwent will be open every day from 8am to 5.45pm, except Thursdays where the site will be shut. The Llanfoist site  in Abergavenny operates the same opening hours but is closed on Wednesdays not Thursdays.
