Proposals have been submitted to replace the roof of a village hall which has been closed for several months.

The village hall in Brampton Abbotts, near Ross-on-Wye, was closed to the public after the heavy downfall of snow last winter caused problems in the roof, ceiling and electrics.

Members of the village hall committee had to involve their insurers, builders, an architect and engineers after they discovered the roof structure was more complicated than anticipated.

This made the repair task more complicated and chairman Robert Lewis has submitted plans to remove and replace the existing cement/fibre corrugated roof sheeting with new blue/black fibre cement slates.

Residents have until November 6 to comment on the proposals which are expected to be dealt with by planners by November 20.
