Police appeal for witnesses following taxi driver robbery in Hereford

Police are appealing for witnesses or information following a robbery of a taxi driver in Hereford in the early hours of Sunday 21 January.

Shortly before 3am, two males were collected by a taxi in Waterfield Road. The taxi travelled approximately three metres before it is reported the driver was threatened by the males, one of whom was believed to be holding a machete-type knife.

The two males stole the car keys to the vehicle before running off. The taxi driver suffered minor injuries not requiring hospital treatment.

A 17 year-old boy from Hereford has been arrested on suspicion of robbery. Following questioning, he has been released under investigation.

Investigating officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or the taxi collecting the males, or to anyone who may have seen someone using the telephone kiosk in Kilvert Road, Hereford just before 2.55am to book the taxi.
