There are plans to place new glamping huts on a field in the Golden Valley.

Matt Pritchard wants permission from Herefordshire Council to change the use of land west of Whitestone Farm in Turnastone, Vowchurch.

The proposals are to create a glamping site with a new vehicle access and gravelled parking area.

The units include a traditional shepherds’ hut, geo dome and two timber structures all prefabricated off site.

All the huts contain sleeping and living areas and some also contain a small kitchen.

Small shepherds’ huts are also proposed alongside each unit to provide waterless composting toilet facilities.

Consultants working on the scheme say the plans will help the farm diversify.

“The slump in the national economy in 2007/08 and recent effects of Covid 19 has resulted in a significant increase in UK staycation holidays and glamping is one of the largest growth sectors,” the planning statement reads.

“This development seeks to tap in to this market and will also assist in supporting and diversifying the existing farm.”

People have until March 9 to comment on the proposals which county planners are expected to consider the plans by March 17.
