Off-road motorsports could soon face more red tape if measures aimed at tackling the climate and ecological emergency get the go-ahead.

Councillors tasked with coming up with new environmental policies for Herefordshire Council say the damage caused by these temporary events could be addressed if they require planning permission.

Councillor Elissa Swinglehurst said a motocross track in her ward was going through a woodland where there are protected species such as dormice.

“There was literally nothing that anyone could do.

“The suggestion isn’t that we ban it but that it has planning.”
