Nominations are now open for West Mercia’s Young Good Citizen Awards 2021.

The applications are open until 30 July and we want to hear about those aged 18 or under who have displayed community spirit and are making a real difference. We are particularly keen to receive nominations about young people who have overcome challenges in their own lives and have still been able to make a difference to others in their community.

Chief Inspector Edward Hancox said: “This last year has been a trying time for everyone but there have been some outstanding contributions to the community worth recognising. We know that throughout the counties we serve there are countless young people going above and beyond to help support people; whether that be raising money for charity, arranging events or simply helping those who have had difficult time shielding throughout the pandemic. Whatever it may be we are keen to hear about the wonderful young citizens throughout Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire.”

All nominees meeting the criteria will receive a Young Good Citizen Certificate from their Safer Neighbourhood Team. Ten of these (two from each policing area) along with their proposers, will be invited to a final awards ceremony at Police HQ in October 2021 hosted by the Chief Officers High Sheriffs.

Do you know someone that deserves recognition? If so, complete the application form and submit by Friday 30 July 2021
