New Year Honours List Revealed

Community volunteers, festival directors and people involved in healthcare in Herefordshire and Monmouthshire have been recognised in the Queen's New Year Honours list.

Sean Dennehey, from Monmouthshire,  Deputy chief executive, Intellectual Property Office, becomes a CBE.

Peter Florence MBE, from Herefordshire, Co-founder and director, Hay Festival. Mr Florence receives a CBE for services to Literature and charity.

Professor Simon John Gibson OBE, from Monmouth, Chief executive, Wesley Clover Corporation. Profession Gibson receives a CBE for services to the Economy in Wales.

Revel Albert, Whitney on Wye,  Chair, Hay Festival. Mrs Albert receives an OBE for services to Literature.

Edward Mortimer Harley, Bucknell, receives an OBE for services to Heritage.

Kathleen Burns, Abergevenny, receives an MBE for services to Post 16 Education and Skills in Wales.

Wendy Coombey, Leominster, Community Partnership and Funding Officer for Hereford Diocese. Mrs Coombey receives an MBE for services to Churches in Herefordshire.

Alexander Khan, Raglan, Chief executive officer, Lifetime Training. Mr Khan receives an MBE for services to Apprenticeships.

Mark Langshaw, Usk, Managing director, Continental Teves Ltd. Mr Langshaw receives an MBE for services to the Economy and community in Blaenau Gwent.

John McLester, Coleford. Mr McLester receives an MBE for services to Education and the community in Monmouth.

Rachel Morgan from Monmouthshire receives an MBE for services to UK Antarctic Heritage and Conservation.

Louise Rooney, Chepstow, Senior nurse and head of prison healthcare, HM Prison Usk. Mrs Rooney receives an MBE for services to nursing and prison healthcare in Monmouthshire.

Michael Thornhill receives an MBE for services to the community in Leominster.

Bryan Jones receives a BEM for services to Education and Young People.

Gillian Worthing. Manager, Holy Trinity Cadet Unit, Hereford, St John Ambulance. Miss Worthing receives a British Empire Medal for services to First Aid and Young People in Herefordshire.
