NFU Cymru is encouraging its members in Monmouthshire to attend a General Election hustings event with prospective parliamentary candidates standing from the main political parties, ahead of the General Election on 8 June 2017.

Starting at 6pm, on Monday, 22 May, at Llwyn y Gaer Farm, Tregare, Raglan, local farmers will have an opportunity to quiz the prospective parliamentary candidates on their party’s rural and agricultural policies.

Monmouthshire NFU Cymru Chairman, Ian Williams, who will chair the meeting, said: “During what will be a critical two years for the industry, it is vital that all prospective candidates understand the key asks from grassroots farmers and have farming’s best interests at heart. This event will allow the prospective candidates to set out their stall and justify why they are the best candidate for Monmouthshire.

“I hope to see a good turnout, so please encourage your friends and neighbours to come along. This meeting will give our members the opportunity to question Monmouthshire candidates on the agricultural and rural issues that matter to them.”
