Man arrested following explosion in Malvern

A 20-year-old man from Malvern has been arrested on suspicion of possessing an explosive substance following an explosion in Malvern.

The incident occurred at around 9.50pm last night (Monday 29 May).

It is believed the explosion occurred near to Pound Bank Road. Nobody was hurt and no property was damaged.

Following the incident, officers entered a house on nearby Langland Avenue where they discovered a suspicious substance. A cordon has been put in place around this house and homes evacuated while explosive experts ensure they are safe.

Inspector Gareth Lougher said: "We would like to thank people for their patience while we deal with this incident and we would urge people to avoid the area."

At this time police do not believe that this incident is linked to terrorism.
