A man has been sentenced to 21 years for rape.
David Gilks, 30, of Sayers Avenue in Malvern, was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on Friday 17 February.
He will serve 14 years in prison and a further seven years on extended license.
In addition, he was sentenced to four years in prison for coercive control, which will be served concurrently.
He will also be subject to a lifetime sexual harm prevention order.
Gilks was found guilty of the charges on 23 December 2022 following a trial at Worcester Crown Court.
The offences took place during 2019.
Detective Inspector Dave Hall, who led the investigation, said: “I hope Gilks’ sentence sends a clear and strong message that we can and do take all reports of rape seriously, and will work tirelessly to secure charges against those responsible.
“Reporting crimes like these can take a lot of courage, and I would like to commend the victim in this case on the immense strength she showed in coming forward to police, and also throughout the trial.
