Assembly Member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, is renewing calls for a bypass for Chepstow following the recent Transition Chepstow public meeting held in the town.

Local residents and commuters have long been complaining about congestion and pollution in Chepstow which is increasing, especially since the removal of the tolls on the Severn Bridges.

The local AM considers that the solution to Chepstow’s traffic woes lies in a bypass around the town, but this will require co-operation between both the UK and Welsh Governments due to cross border issues.

Speaking this week Nick said: “Now that the Welsh Gov has abandoned plans for the M4 black route I would like to see some funding diverted to improving Chepstow’s road infrastructure.

“As each day passes, congestion in Chepstow is worsening.

“A new bypass needs to be a top priority in 2020.”
