It’s Open Farm Sunday on Sunday 10th June and farmers all over the UK will be throwing open their gates and inviting the public in to see behind the scenes of a working farm.

“It’s all part of the National project ‘Open Farm Sunday’ to show people exactly where their food comes from.” Said local Tidenham farmer Lyndon Edwards whose own organic farm will be open as part of the initiative once again this year.

“We welcomed over 3,000 visitors to the event at Hanley Farm on Open Farm Sunday last year and we are geared up for even more this time around.” Said Lyndon. “It really is a fantastic opportunity for everyone, young and old, to discover at first-hand what it means to be a farmer in this day and age.”

In addition to giving the opportunity to meet the animals and even watch the cows being milked in the milking parlour, Hanley Farm will have tractor & trailer rides, kids craft activities, a tug-of-war competition and lots more to see and do. Modern tractors, machinery and equipment will be on show alongside a display of vintage machinery from years gone by.

“Weather permitting, we’ll also have the most amazing bouncy castles, said tobe some of the biggest in the country, for the kids to expel some surplus energy, and a designated picnic area if you want to bring your own refreshments.”

Open Farm Sunday is at Hanley Farm, Tidenham, on the A48 between Chepstow and Lydney this Sunday 1011h June, 10am-4pm. Entry is free.
