Wye Valley Brewery is a Silver-medallist in this year's 'International Brewing Award' in the International Keg Lager category, for their newly launched premium lager, '1985'.

Seen as 'the Oscars of the brewing world', the International Brewing Awards received 1,121 entries over 41 classes, from 187 breweries around the world. One of just 34 silver medals awarded, this is an amazing achievement for the brewery, who are also responsible for award-winning cask ales such as HPA and Butty Bach.

Named '1985' in celebration of the year Wye Valley Brewery was founded, the Kolsch-style lager is made using Herefordshire hops as well as traditional European lager varieties.

Vernon Amor, Managing Director of Wye Valley Brewery, comments "We are delighted to have received this award for '1985'. We have wanted to produce a premium lager for a long time and we are thrilled to have achieved international recognition so quickly. We are now even more excited to officially launch '1985' nationally this summer".

The team from Wye Valley Brewery received their silver medal at an awards ceremony held at Guildhall in London on Wednesday, 26th April 2017.
