A Hereford man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A drugs (heroin and cocaine) in October last year.
Paul Chamberlain, 50, of Litchfield Avenue, appeared at Worcester Crown Court, on Wednesday 15 June to be sentenced.
During an investigation by the Hereford proactive team into ‘County Lines’ drug dealing, Chamberlain was identified as a key figure in the supply and distribution of drugs into the county from the West Midlands using his home address as a base.
Chamberlain received payment and on occasions met with 'punters' and supplied them himself with heroin and crack cocaine.
Detective Sergeant Jamie Bullock said: "Paul Chamberlain has lived in Litchfield Avenue for several years, during which time he has been the thorn in the side of this local community and has made their lives a misery.
"Chamberlain has had a previous conviction for a similar offence and this time a significant sentence has been imposed.
"I am sure this news will be received with open arms from local people. We take a very dim view on this type of behaviour and encourage and welcome any reports from communities who are suffering from a similar issues.
"Tackling County Lines gangs and serious organised crime is a priority for us, but it poses risks for officers.
"When officers were trying to arrest one of the Line’s runners last October who was staying at Chamberlain’s address, he drove his car at them, seriously endangering their lives.
"A pursuit took place before he was apprehended and he was subsequently convicted and sent to prison.
"This highlights the gravity of this offending and the risks involved, but we will not be deterred.
“Anyone with any concerns about potential drug crime in their area is urged to get in touch. We act on all reports we receive.”
