Hereford man convicted of multiple sexual assaults

Roy Millist who is 71 years-old and from Hereford was convicted of sexual assault at Worcester Crown Court last week.

Following his trial, a jury found Millist guilty of three counts of sexual assault by penetration, all of which were offences he committed between 2018 and 2021.

His conviction followed a lengthy and thorough investigation by a team of Hereford detectives after the victim came forward to report his abuse to police.

Detective Constable Emma O’Hare said: “Millist committed these heinous offences against a young woman who was not able to defend or protect herself over a sustained period of time.

“As pleased as I am with the verdict, the true tribute is paid to the victim and her family who not only survived despite his best efforts to demean and hurt them, but to then show incredible courage and bravery in alerting the police to his crimes allowing us to bring him to justice. My hope is that this conviction will bring some measure of comfort to those whose lives have been irrevocably damaged by his predatory and despicable actions.”

Millist is due to be sentenced soon and is currently being held on remand.
