An open evening is taking place on Wednesday 13th November at 6.00pm at King Henry School for European Nationals affected by the European Settlement Status.

The open evening will provide an opportunity to gain an understanding of the Settlement Scheme, how to apply and how it will impact on individuals, families and businesses.

Advice and support will be provided by organisations such as Citizen Advice Bureau, Mind Newport and many more. Shaz Miah, Community Cohesion Officer at Monmouthshire County Council and Newport County Council is working with communities to help alleviate anxiety and stress by offering one-to-one support to help complete applications.

All European Nationals who wish to remain in the United Kingdom need to apply by Tuesday 31st December 2019. By applying for Settlement Status it will enable individuals and families to continue to be able to work, study, claim state pension and some benefits and continue to use the NHS.

Cllr Sara Jones, Cabinet Member for Social Justice said: "I urge anyone who needs more advice and support to attend the drop in session. The Settlement Scheme affects the lives of many people who have been living in Monmouthshire for many years. Help is available, please do get in touch with Shaz Miah our Community Cohesion Officer."

Details of more drop in sessions will be available in coming weeks.
