Visiting restrictions at the County Hospital’s Gilwern Unit have been lifted. The unit, for frail and elderly patients, was closed to visitors last week following an outbreak of Norovirus.

While visitors are now allowed back on the ward, it is important that any visitors with diarrhoea and/or vomiting do not visit the hospital until they have been free of symptoms for 48 hours.

Visitors are requested to practice good hand hygiene and use the alcohol gels available in all wards/departments.

The Wye Valley NHS Trust has thanked all patients and visitors for their understanding during this period and to emphasise that these restrictions were put in place to protect its patients, as part of a zero tolerance approach to healthcare associated infections.
