A coronavirus testing site in Herefordshire which has been closed will reopen tomorrow, according to council officials.

The overflow car park at Merton Meadow in Hereford has been used as a Covid-19 testing centre throughout the pandemic.

Herefordshire Council was informed by the Department for Health and Social Care that the site was closed today (March 10) but will reopen on March 11.

However, the council did not say why the site had been closed.

A Herefordshire Council spokesperson said: “We were notified this morning that the Merton Meadow testing site, which is staffed by the Department for Health and Social Care, was not open, but we have been assured that it will be open again from tomorrow.

“Herefordshire has three sites for symptomatic testing – at Merton Meadow, Hereford; Wilton Road carpark, Ross; and Broad Street Carpark, Leominster – and have recently expanded rapid testing in the county. The latest information about testing can be found on our website.”
