Hereford City Council has awarded a £30,000 grant to The Courtyard Hereford for their ongoing community projects.

The award will be spread to £10,000 per year and will be divided between three brilliant projects.

The first project involves the Courtyard Audio Description Association, with funding contributing in training new volunteers that will provide audio descriptions of shows at The Courtyard to those who are visually impaired, while headphones will also be provided for those hard of hearing or who have audio impairment. This improves accessibility and enables the venue to cater even better to these needs.

The second project is the Creative Community Champions project, which provides local older people's groups with training and high quality materials to run creative sessions. These sessions take the arts into community centres, with a focus on older and retired people and in a fun, sociable and interactive way.

The third project will help provide Family Saturdays Workshops and Family Festival workshops, including the purchase of a moveable dance floor. This funding will help plan and secure a spread of quality workshops for these events.

Funding will also enable the dance stage to be hired to other Community Groups in the City of Hereford for their own use.
