Employment chiefs at Herefordshire Council have appointed Stephen Vickers as director of adults and communities.

Mr Vickers had been in post on an interim basis since the departure of Martin Samuels in March this year.

Health and wellbeing cabinet member Paul Rone praised Mr Vickers and thanked him for taking on the challenge.

He said: “Congratulations to Stephen on his appointment.

“I would like to thank him for previously stepping up to cover the role as acting director since March this year.

“I am confident that Stephen will continue to lead the adults and communities directorate to deliver the council’s aims to ensure that vulnerable members of the community are supported, enabling them to live safe, healthy and independent lives.”

Mr Vickers said he was extremely pleased to be appointed.

He said: “I am fully committed to ensuring that residents receive the best possible support and care from our services.

“Herefordshire is a great place to live and work and I’m passionate about working to improving the lives of the people living in the county.”
