A Caldicot barbers has been handed an improvement notice for failing to comply with track and trace requirements.

Hair Force 1, in Newport Road, has been handed an improvement notice and now risks closure for failing to comply with Welsh Government coronavirus regulations.

As part of the Welsh Government’s coronavirus regulations, all barbers are required to get the contact information of customers entering the premises for track and trace.

Track and trace will help companies contact individuals who may have been exposed to coronavirus in the event of a positive case.

According to the improvement notice, the trading standards officer visited the premises on November 11 where they noticed that the barbers was not keeping “adequate records of clients attending the premises, in line with track and trace requirements”.

The improvement notice says the trading standards officer advised the barbers that they are “required by law to keep contacts details of all your clients (name and contact numbers) for track and trace purposes and that this data needed to be kept for 21 days”.

The improvement notice says: “At the time of the visit you agreed to do this.

“I have since received information that this is still not being done and you are not asking for contact details of clients attending your premises.”

Hair Force 1 has 72 hours to make the necessary changes.

Monmouthshire County Council will reinspect the premises and decide whether to withdraw the improvement notice or issue a closure notice.
