Farmers all over the UK yesterday threw open their gates and invited the public in to let them see behind the scenes of a working farm.

The event was all part of the National project ‘Open Farm Sunday’ to show people exactly where their food comes from and local Tidenham farmer Thomas Edwards and his family opened their own organic dairy farm up as part of the initiative once again this year.

“We welcomed thousands of visitors to the event at Hanley Farm. Numbers have grown significantly every year.” Said Lyndon. “It really was a fantastic opportunity for everyone, young and old, to discover at first-hand what it means to be a farmer in this day and age and see how their food gets directly from the farm to their fork.”

In addition to giving visitors the opportunity to go behind the scenes, meet the animals and even watch the cows being milked in the milking parlour, Hanley Farm put on tractor & trailer rides, and displays of modern tractors, machinery and equipment alongside vintage machinery from years gone by.

“We were delighted with the turnout and enjoyed answering all of the numerous questions asked.” Said Lyndon. “We’re already planning our Open Farm Sunday 2020 on Sunday 7th June.”
