Members of Monmouth Music Theatre (MMT) will be performing Evita, the story of Eva Perón's rags-to-riches life, in March next year.

With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, Evita concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Perón, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Perón.

Auditions for the production will be taking place in early September and MMT would be delighted to hear from new members interested in joining and especially from performers keen on auditioning for the role of Che.

Che is the charismatic, passionate and hopeful yet cynical guide through the events of Eva's life. As he narrates, Che is present in many scenes, playing different roles to provide insight, criticism and commentary from a variety of perspectives.

MMT, formerly known as Monmouth Operatic Society, was formed in 1988 and performs one major show a year and then minor shows or concerts.

The group meets on a Tuesday and Wednesday night at the Methodist Hall in Monmouth, and are always happy to welcome new performers or those keen to work backstage or front of house.
