Herefordshire Council is pleased to announce that it has appointed the artists who will deliver a range of public art projects in Hereford as part of the Hereford City Centre Improvements (HCCI) scheme.

The commissioned artists range from international and regional level to supporting local Herefordshire talent, and their works will include a mix of street artworks, installations and a new public art trail. Locals and visitors will start to see artworks on gable ends of prominent gateway locations across the city, in underpasses and in city centre passageways up to March 2024. There will also be a bespoke partnership project with Hereford College of Arts to celebrate its 170th anniversary in 2024.

The £6m HCCI project includes £3m from the Getting Building Fund to refurbish the historic core of Hereford through investment in the streetscape, landscaping and public realm.

Cllr Philip Price, Cabinet Member Transport and Infrastructure, said: “We are delighted to have commissioned such a large range of talented artists for our Public Art Programme in the city centre.”
