Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault on a security guard outside a supermarket on Barton Yard in Hereford.

Around 10am on Saturday morning, a man approached the entrance to the supermarket when he was directed by the security officer to join the social distancing queue.

He then spat in the face of the security officer and left the area.

The offender is a man in his twenties, around 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing a blue puffer jacket with the hood up and black jogging bottoms with a white logo on the left leg. He had white socks and black and white trainers on.

DC Tony Shaw said: “This is unacceptable behaviour, especially in the current climate but we do not condone behaviour like this at any time and are keen to find the individual responsible.

“If you have any information regarding this incident or recognise the description of the man please call me on 01432 347368 quoting reference 115s 280320.”
