Gloucestershire County Council has suspended four members of staff and is investigating allegations of racism.

The local authority is understood to be looking into multiple instances of alleged racism at Shire Hall.

At present, four council workers have been suspended pending further investigations by the council. The suspensions are non prejudicial.

A council spokesperson said: “We require all those working for the council to conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism, integrity and tolerance.

“Falling short of these expectations will not be tolerated.

“We are aware of these allegations and are currently carrying out a thorough investigation.

“It is important not to pre judge the outcome of our investigations, but should these claims prove to be true, appropriate action will be taken.”
