Highways workers have begun to remove the controversial temporary bus and cycle lanes on Commercial Road in Hereford.
The measures were introduced by Herefordshire Council in July to allow more space to walk and cycle in busy areas.
Councillors say the temporary road layout has been reversed following feedback from local businesses and shoppers.
The temporary measures have been funded by government Emergency Active Travel Funding, which allocated £20,000 to Herefordshire to promote walking and cycling for short and local journeys.
