Police trying to trace 11 people over disorder at Unite the Kingdom march

Police are trying to trace 11 people "linked to disorder" following the Unite the Kingdom march on Saturday - after charging eight others.

The Metropolitan Police said there were "several incidents across central London", the majority of which were linked to the march "in and around Whitehall".

It added that officers made "24 arrests on the day and have since carried out enquiries into other offences".

The force wants to speak to the 11 others in relation to public order offences and offences on emergency services.

"Officers have trawled through hundreds of hours of CCTV footage," said Detective Chief Inspector Natalie Norris from the Met's public order crime team.

Because marchers may have travelled from outside London, she said she was asking people "across the country" to look at a number of pictures that have been released and to get in touch if they recognise anyone.

In addition to the eight people who were charged - over offences including assaulting an emergency worker and common assault on a police officer - one received a caution, while a further 11 were bailed under investigation to return at a later date.

Three of those arrested were women, while the rest were men.

The Met said 26 officers were assaulted with kicks and punches.

It added: "Bottles, flares and other projectiles were also thrown and concerted attempts were made to get past barriers."

Protesters heard a number of speeches, including from far-right activist Tommy Robinson, who called it the "biggest freedom of speech" event in British history.

Police estimated that between 110,000 and 150,000 people had attended.

An anti-racism counter-protest, attended by about 5,000 campaigners, also took place, with the two groups clashing on Whitehall and Trafalgar Square, separated by lines of police.
