The MP for a Herefordshire town has expressed his concern over a devastating fire.

Firefighters from Leominster and nine other stations were called to Buckfield Road in the town last Friday evening after a fire in a garage spread to four semi-detached homes, gutting two of them.

No one was hurt, but eight adults and four children needed to be relocated with relatives.

North Herefordshire MP Sir Bill Wiggin wrote on his website: “I was deeply concerned to learn of the terrible fire that destroyed a number of houses in the Buckfield area of Leominster.

“While I am very relieved that nobody was hurt in this incident, my thoughts are with the families whose homes have been lost.

“I would like to pay tribute to our fantastic emergency services who attended the scene and helped to bring the fire under control.”

Given the town’s “wonderful sense of community”, he urged residents to support the gofundme appeal for the families affected.

As of mid-afternoon on Monday, this had already taken nearly £3,000 from over 100 donors.
