Residents across Shropshire are being encouraged to explore tips, tools and local support to help people stay healthy and well throughout the colder months.
Running from November 2026 to March 2027, the campaign promotes the Five Ways to Winter Wellness, helping residents find trusted information and practical support on vaccinations, self-care, welfare, mental health and staying active.
The campaign aims to make it easier for people to find advice and local services that can help prevent ill health, improve wellbeing and support independence during winter. The campaign will also help raise awareness of preventative services available in Shropshire, including social prescribing and community health checks.
Winter can bring challenges for many people, from seasonal illnesses and colder weather to increased feelings of isolation. Shropshire Council’s Winter Wellness campaign highlights simple steps residents can take to look after their physical and mental wellbeing, while signposting them to local support when they need it.
Councillor Ruth Houghton, Shropshire Council’s Portfolio Holder for Health and Adult Social Care, said:
“Winter can be a wonderful time of year, but it can also present challenges for our health and wellbeing.
“Through our Healthy Shropshire Winter Wellness campaign, we’re bringing together practical tips, useful tools and local support to help residents stay healthy and well throughout the season.
“The Healthy Shropshire webpages are a great place to start if you are looking for advice about staying active, protecting yourself from winter illnesses, looking after your mental wellbeing, accessing support with the cost of living, or finding local services in your community.
“Our community wellbeing outreach team will also be taking the message out to health check events all over the county, to reach even more people throughout the season.
“By taking small steps to look after ourselves and knowing where to turn for support, we can all enjoy a healthier winter.”
