Hundreds of walkers have signed up to mammoth challenge around the Shropshire Hills for the third year in a row.
The annual Shropshire Way 80K Festival will take place at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre over the first weekend in April this year.
Following the success of the Shropshire Way 80K mass participation walk in its first year, the team at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre added more routes last year to make the event more accessible. The new festival worked so well that it’s back for it’s second year and hundreds of people are already set to take on their personal challenges around the hills.
The festival consists of three different route options this year to suit a variety of walking abilities. The mighty “Shropshire Way 80K” route is 80km (50 miles) in length with the aim being to complete the circuit in less than 24 hours. The 42K “Mammathon” and the “Half Mammathon” provide shorter options. Each route will take in some of the finest parts of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with delicious local food provided at checkpoints along the way.
Entries are now open and details can be found on the Centre’s website and the Shropshire Way 80K Festival Facebook Page.
