A motorist from Kidderminster has been given a 3 year prison sentence following pleading guilty to death by dangerous driving leading to the death of Saturnin Micajow.
The offence took place on Lower Lickhill Road, Stourport, Worcestershire on 30 May 2021. 36 year old Sebastian Wdowczyk of Hurcott Road, Kidderminster was sentenced to 3 years in prison and banned from driving for four and half years at Worcester Crown Court on 31 March.
Wdowczyk was driving the car at 04:00 on 30 May 2021 with his friend Micajow as front seat passenger. The car collided with a large tree at speed, causing substantial damage to the vehicle and resulting in the passenger becoming trapped and receiving serious injuries.
Wdowczyk admitted travelling too fast and also provided a positive breath test at the scene. Later blood samples from the driver also showed levels of drugs BZE and Amphetamine.
Superintendent Steph Brighton from West Mercia Police said: “Road safety and roads policing is a high priority for our force. We see too often the impact that such behaviour can lead to on our roads and our officers will do all they can to ensure motorists that are not using our roads responsibly do not evade the law.”
