Working Together Ludlow Thanks Mayor for Donation Supporting Community Garden Renovation

In a letter to the Mayor, Chief Officer Nigel Bishop wrote: “We would like to acknowledge receipt of your donation of £5000 to Working Together (Ludlow) and say a huge thank you for choosing Working Together Ludlow as the Mayor's Charity for the past year.” He added that donations like this “really help us to continue to deliver, increase and develop the range of services and support we can provide to our members, their families and their carers on a daily basis.”

The total raised reflects a vibrant and varied year of charity events led by the Mayor, each designed to bring the community together while raising funds for Working Together Ludlow. The programme included music, food and quiz nights, raffles and auctions, a charity Market, an afternoon cream tea and croquet play day. Together, these events created opportunities for residents, businesses and visitors to support a vital local charity while enjoying a rich calendar of social activities.

Working Together Ludlow confirmed that the donation will fund essential renovation works in the Rockspring Community Garden. The project includes replacing and restoring the terraced beds to “sustain the structural integrity of the garden for the next 15 years and open up opportunities for more local community garden volunteers to participate in and enjoy gardening alongside Working Together's members.”

The improvements will also enhance the visual appeal of the garden, a valued green space at the heart of the Sandpits estate.

Once the restoration is complete, Working Together Ludlow plans to host a community event to showcase the renewed garden and celebrate the contribution of supporters. The Mayor has been invited to attend and say a few words.

In closing their letter, Working Together Ludlow expressed their appreciation for the Mayor’s commitment: “Thank you again for choosing Working Together as the Mayor's Charity last year and thank you for all your hard work in organising the fundraising events – it was very much appreciated.”

The Mayor’s fundraising efforts have strengthened inclusive community spaces, supported local residents with learning disabilities and difficulties, and helped ensure that Ludlow’s charitable spirit continues to thrive. With the new Mayoral year now underway, the Mayor’s upcoming programme of charity events promises to be even stronger, building on last year’s success with an expanded calendar designed to bring the community together and raise vital funds for local causes.

Mayor of Ludlow, Cllr Di Lyle, said: “It has been a privilege to support Working Together Ludlow this past year. The generosity of our community never fails to inspire me, and I’m delighted that the funds raised will help revitalise such an important shared space. I’m looking forward to an even bigger and more ambitious programme of charity events this year, continuing to champion the organisations and people who make Ludlow such a special place.”
