An alliance between Labour, Green and Liberal Democrat councillors will continue to lead Stroud District Council for the next three years.
The three groups make up 31 of the 51 seats on the district council and have agreed to work together to run the council as they have done since 2012.
Labour’s Doina Cornell was re-elected as council leader and Green Party councillor Cahterine Braun will be her deputy.
Councilllor Steve Robinson was elected as chairman with Trevor Hall chosen Vice Chair.
Cllr Cornell said: “The co-operative alliance collectively returned more councillors, so we have strong continuity.
“We work well together as parties and people, and we will continue to do so for every one of our residents and businesses.
“We have led the district through the pandemic with partners, and we are already working on recovery.”
Cllr Braun said the election of many new councillors was an exciting opportunity to bring fresh ideas to the council
“As well as responding to the immediate challenges, we’ll also be looking to the future and delivery of the District Council’s Carbon Neutral 2030 targets.”
Liberal Democrat group leader Ken Tucker said the ruling alliance reflects the nature of the district.
“We have a stable administration for the next three years and the make-up of administration reflects the diversity of our district.”
The Conservatives remain the largest group on the council with 19 seats ahead of Labour and the Greens on 15 and 13 seats respectively.
The Liberal Democrat group has three councillors and there is one Conservative without a group.
