Tributes are being paid to a refuse worker who died following a crash in Leominster this morning.

Emergency services were called to Mill Street in Leominster early this morning after a bin lorry crashed into a building.

The incident happened shortly after 6.40am and has since been confirmed to have resulted in the death of a man in his 60s, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

He's been named locally as Andzie “Stan” Stanik.

In a tribute, his family said: "Dad was “on the bins” around the Herefordshire area for over 25 years so we know his friendly face will be missed. We are sorry to share this news with you all."

"None of us imagined that our most recent goodbye would be our final one; and that the simple, mundane moments we shared would suddenly become the ones we treasure the most."

The driver and a second passenger were treated by paramedics and taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

No one else was injured in the incident, and it has been confirmed that the building struck by the vehicle was empty.
