Philip Dunne MP has welcomed additional funding for a heritage project in Bishops Castle from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
South Shropshire Youth Forum was recently awarded £6,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund to fund a five month project, helping young people develop conservation and community archaeology skills in Bishops Castle. The Heritage Lottery Fund invests money raised through the National Lottery.
Mr Dunne said: “I am delighted the Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded £6,000 to South Shropshire Youth Forum to help young people develop conservation skills in Bishops Castle.
Bishops Castle has a wealth of historically important assets, from Offa’s Dyke to the more recent discovery of a treasure hoard of gold coins. So developing these skills will encourage young people to learn more and get involved in the preservation of our local history.”
