A man was arrested on suspicion of rape on Saturday and has been released on bail.
Officers patrolling the area following recent reports were approached by a male victim near Victoria Bridge in Hereford.
A 35-year-old male suspect was arrested shortly after the report being made.
Hereford Chief Inspector Ross Jones said: "Increased patrols by both uniformed and plain clothes officers will continue along the river path, particularly during the late evening and overnight.
“Our patrols were able to respond to this report immediately, leading to the arrest of a 35-year-old male”
