A well-known Herefordshire fish and chip shop has been ordered to close after evidence of rats were found at the premises.
‘The Square’ fish and chip shop on Corn Square, Leominster, was required to close by Environmental Health Officers following the discovery of rodent activity.
Officers from Herefordshire Council’s Environmental Health and Trading Standards Service visited the premises last Thursday (21/6/18) and used emergency hygiene powers to immediately close the food business due to “an imminent risk to health”.
Herefordshire Council was subsequently granted a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order at Hereford Magistrates’ Court on Monday (25/6/18) confirming their Officers’ actions. The Order requires the business to remain closed until Council Officers are satisfied that the health risk conditions have been removed and the premises can be operated hygienically. Officers are working closely with the business to help it reopen as soon as possible.
